How To Make Traditional Russian Cutlet (KOTLETI )

by Tatianna Yougottalove

I was raised in a Russian Family and our meals always had meat and animal products in it. When I turned 15, I stopped eating meat.
There were few traditional dishes which I missed since I wasn’t able to eat meat anymore and when my mom used to cook it at home for everybody else.

There was one particular dish that I missed when I stopped consuming meat – Russian Kotletki (Russian Cutlet). These can also be called Russian Patties (how you make it).

When Richard recently got plant base ground Veggie. I immediately jumped into the idea of making a Vegan Russian Cutlet ( Kotleti )! I called up my mom and asked her about her recipe although it has been years now since she had made it. Matter of fact, She also turned into a vegan after so many years of my lecturing about the benefits of this lifestyle. Gladly, she still remembered the recipe and then I decided to make my own version by adding a few more ingredients.

Today, we have some great substitutes available in the market for any animal and animal products– Everything can be veganized and it is definitely Healthier too.

Hope you will Enjoy this recipe.

Ingredients:

680g plant base ground veggie, gluten free
1 potato, grated
1 onion, grated
Small bunch cilantro, diced (you can add more)
2 tbsp vegan mayo
1 tsp salt, optional because the ground already salty
Pinch of pepper
¼ tsp onion powder
¼ tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp oil (optional)
2 tbsp ground flaxseed
4 tbsp oats

Directions:

Place all the ingredients in one bowl and mix it well. Take some oat flour in your hand ( if you are gluten free) and shape them like a cutlet or patties. I fried them just for the video for you to see, but I always prefer baking. I prefer baking my patties over frying it. Still, you have two options, depending what suits you, either to Fry or Bake it. My Boys loved it and ate them like candies. So, guard your Cutlets in the kitchen while you are making it. It is soo Tasty that it will disappear.

Note:
If you feel like adding more potatoes, you are welcome to do so. Next time I’ll add more potatoes, cilantro, and I’ll definitely bake it.

My boys love potatoes, and I love cilantro. Maybe I will post it again on Facebook + Instagram Page. Drop me a message there 😊
