Nutty, Crispy Pastry Wrapped With Hazelnuts!

by Tatianna Yougottalove

I really wanted something sweet, similar to sweet cigars that I baked recently, but not exactly the same.
I wanted a different shape & with a different filling.

I was helping Richard in the garage while thinking of what I want it to look like, and how I’m going to shape it, and so on.
And this is the result, we all loved it, and the best part for me was the crispy texture, but it’s optional, depending on how long you are going to bake it.
You have the option of baking it to a soft texture or crispy.

I hope you’ll enjoy as much as we did 😋

The ingredients you’ll need:
Vegan butter
Vegan yogourt
Baking powder
All purpose flour
Hazelnuts
Vanilla extract
Maple syrup

Dough
In a bowl:
3 tbsp vegan butter
3 tbsp vegan yogourt
⅓ cup maple syrup or cane sugar
1 tsp baking powder
⅔ cup water
3 cups all purpose flour
Mix well and then knead
Set aside while making the filing

Filling
2 cups grated hazelnuts, I used my handy greater, you can use food processor or Ninja
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp cane sugar
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl

Flour your work surface, knead your dough and roll it out.

Spread evenly all the filing around the dough and start rolling your dough.

Make sure you are rolling it tight, so when you cut it, it won’t open up, like some of mine did 😆.
