Kids 👨‍👨‍👦 make their own vegan 🌱 sushi

by Tatianna Yougottalove

My boys love sushi, but Richard and I are not big fans of going to restaurants often.
I’ve been doing this fun food project with boys for years and they enjoy it greatly.

As long as they can eat sushi at home they don’t care about going to the sushi restaurant.

If you have kids, this is so much fun making it with them.
You can use any vegetables you have at hand.
The most important ingredients are Nori sheets, soy sauce (we buy gluten free), mushrooms, sweet potatos (it gives sweet flavor) and tofu.
The rest are flexible, just play with it, mix and match by what each child want.
If your child likes potato, then why not.
Maybe some broccoli.
Anything you would like and your child would enjoy eating wrapped in Nori sheets.

Sometimes my boys are the ones that are cutting the vegetables and telling me which ones they want.
So I wash all the vegetables and they cut it.
I usually cut it into strips.

I baked mushrooms, sweet potato and tofu that are marinated in soy sauce, BBQ sauce and oil or sesame oil, sometimes I use soy sauce, sesame oil and agave nectar.

For rice, you don’t need to buy sticky rice, I always use regular rice, like Basmati rice or white rice, any rice I have at home.
Sometimes even brown rice.
To make it sticky add a little bit of vinegar, a trick my sister in-law taught me.
And more water than usual.
As you can see in the video the rice came out very sticky.
This time I cooked it in my new pressure cooker.
